Commissioner JT Washam
District 2

J.T. Washam
2nd District of Union County
Luttrell, TN
865-992-5184
J.T. Washam has a strong work ethic. For 16
of the 25 years that he worked in the
Luttrell mines, he was also a Union County
deputy. Now that he is “retired”, his days
are filled with grading, welding, tractor
work and carpentry. He knows the value of
hard work.
J.T. feels that the community
needs to be planning now for the future.
Union County is growing both in population
and in the number of new homes being built
and he feels that we need to be prepared for
this. J.T. brings many skills to county
commission including the ability and
patience to keep at something until he can
make it work.
He knows how important family
is, having been raised in a big one - with 3
brothers and 5 sisters. His brother Roger
and two of his sisters, Kay and Dianna, sang
gospel for years at the Church of God in
Luttrell until Roger passed away. J.T. and
his sisters have recently started singing
together again at the church.
He has two
boys, David and Brian Washam and two
stepdaughters Denise Helms and Missy
Whitehead. His wife Gail still works
at the Luttrell mine. They have a strong
belief in helping others whenever they can
and they believe that it is better to give
than to get.
