Commissioner Doyle Welch
District 4

4th District – Doyle Welch
A good working relationship with the schools
is an essential and important goal for Doyle
Welch. He believes that it is necessary to
help the schools and the teachers. “Our
schools are not up to par, they are not all
that they could be,” said Doyle. He
believes that the county should look for
grants that may assist schools. People in
this county need to have better jobs and
should have the option to stay in the county
to work. Union County needs some industrial
jobs and one way to attract them would be to
give industries a tax break.
Although we have a good Emergency Medical
Service, they often cannot get to an
emergency in a reasonable time – especially
the more remote areas such as Sharps Chapel
and the Big Ridge parts of the county.
Doyle believes that the EMS needs to be
expanded. He says that recently there was an
hour wait at the Andersonville Boat Dock
waiting for an ambulance to arrive. In some
counties, EMS companies have their units
spread out in different parts of the county
awaiting a call and Doyle feels that would
work better for Union County.
The county is getting better and better.
Norris Lake will bring a lot of tourists
from out-of-state to this county, but we
need places for them to stay and places for
them to spend their money. We should find
investors to provide motels and restaurants
on the lake to attract these tourists.
Doyle believes that it would be beneficial
for the county commission to talk with the
boat dock owners for their ideas and input.
Doyle Welch has managed a successful
business for 20 years. He believes that he
is levelheaded has a track record for having
good judgment. Doyle thinks that
Maynardville has, in the past, been held
back from developing the way a city could
develop and that this area is just beginning
to really grow. He is a life-long resident
of Union County and a graduate of HMHS. He
wants the voters of the 4th
district to know that he will do his very
best to work for all of the citizens of
Union County.
