Joyce Meltabarger is the Secretary of the
Budget and Finance Committee. She has a
great love and respect for children and a
passion for educating them. Education is her
#1 priority. She believes that better
educated students will make them more
competitive for the job market. Our schools
are aging and some of them need repair and
Joyce would like to see more schools or
bigger schools. It is important to her that
the County Commission and the School Board
work together as a team to find solutions to
the overcrowded classes and the building
repair challenges, and
to prepare for future growth in the
student population. Joyce is not a stranger
to hard work. She was factory worker for 44
years and lost her job when it was
outsourced. She would like to see jobs
created here in this county to help support
the incredible growth that we are
experiencing. Joyce firmly believes that
with all 17 commissioners working together
these challenges can be met. People are
usually pretty comfortable taking with
Joyce. Listening to any problem an
individual may have without allowing any one
person undue influence over her vote are two
of her qualities. She always returns calls.
Joyce is honest and open-minded and believes
in hard work and feels that it is an honor
to serve as a county commissioner and to sit
on the Budget and Finance Committee.
