Union County Government

Commissioner Kenny Hill 5th District

Kenny Hill

5th District of Union County

Sharps Chapel, TN

278-3255

Kenny Hill believes we should plan to accommodate the rapid growth in county population.  While retirees make up a significant part of the population growth, over half of the people moving into the county are younger with children. He figures that the population in 5 years will be about 30-40% more than it is today, which will require new schools.

Kenny outlined the options for raising funds and he feels that the best one is to bring in new businesses that will pay property tax and generate sales tax.  He feels that the peninsula of Sharps Chapel will become a waterfront resort in years to come. Retirees and tourists may be the future of this county and businesses may open up here to meet the needs of these folks.

Kenny Hill has 16 years of experience on the County Commission and has, at one time or another, served on all of the various committees.  He presently serves on the Ambulance Board, the Budget and Finance Committee, Solid Waste and the School Roofing committee.  He has worked for improvements in Sharps Chapel, including:  the new Senior Center/Community Center building; getting the caution light installed at the Sharps Chapel Elementary School; a convenience center in Sharps Chapel and one in Speedwell; $100,000 to assist low-income elderly and handicapped with installation costs of water meters; plans for a library and EMS substation (when the building donated by Sunset Bay is moved); the water grant for SCES and, when that is completed, water for other areas of the Chapel.

Kenny Hill says that he wants to hear what residents think about different issues and can often be found at D+A Market on Sharps Chapel Road if voters want to stop by and ask him anything.
