Stanley
Boles, Chairman of the Budget and Finance
Committee, brings 12 years of experience and
continuity to the County Commission. He has
helped to guide Union County through much of
the growth and change experienced over that
time. In addition to Budget and Finance,
Stanley also serves the county on the
Ambulance Board, Planning Commission and
other various boards and committees. He
says that he believes in being levelheaded
and open-minded about every issue and never
decides how he is going to vote on anything
before a commission meeting. There are 16
other commissioners and he feels it is
mandatory to listen to what they know and
have to say before making any decisions.
Stanley says that he has an “open ear
policy” – he wants to hear what his
constituents have to say, no matter how big
or small a problem may be. Something that
seems small to one person may be important
to someone else. One of his strengths is
that he is not shy about asking questions to
be sure he understands all aspects of an
issue. “If you don’t know something,” said
Stanley, “how are you going to find out if
you don’t ask?”
