Ms. Kitts attends church at Hubbs Grove Baptist Church. She
has worked as a bookkeeper for Valley Energy Corporation and
ten years as Legal Secretary for K. David Myers, Attorney at
Law.
Mary Beth is Chairperson for the American Cancer Society of
Union County Relay for Life 2003 and 2004; Board Member and
volunteer for Keep Union County Beautiful; Board Member of
the Leadership Union County and Graduate of Leadership Class
of 2003; volunteer for Toys for Tots; member of Union County
Chamber of Commerce; member of County Officials Association;
member of East Tennessee Registers Association; and
presently a member of the Regional Leadership Class of 2004.
Lifelong resident of Union County, Mary Beth is married to
Hugh Kitts. They have one son, Cody.
She was elected to Register of Deeds office in 1998. The
Register of Deeds office was the first office of the Courthouse to become totally
computerized in 2000. Office hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:00
P.M. Monday thru Friday.
This office records and maintains all Warranty Deeds, Trust
Deeds, Charters, Release Deeds, Affidavits, Power of
Attorneys, Leases, State and Federal Liens and Judgment
Liens. This office is mainly used by attorneys and Title
Searchers to do Title Examinations for Banks and Mortgage
Companies. We also have recorded instruments that date back
to 1856. This helps the public to run their family tree. We
receive money on a daily basis, make daily deposits, and
maintain daily and monthly reports that show how this money
