The Union County Soil Conservation Distrit is a legally constituted unit of state government that utilizes state, federal and local government resource to solve conservation problems.
Organized by a referendum of landowners of Union County of April 4, 1953, with a purpose of developing a district program and work plan for applying soil and water conservation practices.
A five-member Board of Supervisors guide the District program. Three members are elected by landowners and two members are appointed by the State Soil Conservation Committee. |
 |
The USDA, Natural Resources Consercation Service and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture provides technical assistance for the District program.
The District possesses the technical expertise, information and delivery system for providing assistance to landowners with respect to the county's soil and water quality,
and to develop a safe and healthy environment in which to live and work.
